New TAAI Scotland Branch

For some time now, JohnGowing has been efficiently acted as convenor for the Scotland and NE EnglandTAAI Branch. This was a vast territory! John Ferguson has now kindly volunteeredto become Convenor for a separate Scotland Branch, which will look aftermembers “north of the border” but he will work in close liaison with JohnGowing, who will now be Convenor for North of England. He studied agriculture at the ScottishAgricultural College, followed by an MSc in Tropical Agricultural Developmentat the University of Reading. His Masters research was on the role ofdairy goats in poverty reduction and development in Tanzania.Subsequently, he served an internship with ILRI in Kenya before spending acouple of years with VETAID, delivering their development education. Johnthen worked in Malawi with Environment Africa and supervised young Britishvolunteers through Progressio / ICS. He currently has his own ethicalstart-up business, working with sisal farmers in Tanzania and producingsustainable geo-textiles which are marketed in the UK for environmentalapplications, such as peatland restoration and coastal realignment.3.8.15
