TAAF 2024 Award Announcement

24th May 2024

Investigating food insecurity in the Cape Verde islands is just one of six international study awards for UK university MSc students that TAAI has awarded through the TAAF scheme this spring. Ethan Simonyi-Gindele who is studying Food Security and Development at the University of Reading, has just arrived in Cape Verde where he will conduct research until July. The theme of food security and nature-based solutions runs through other awardees projects such as the adoption of cocoa agroforestry in Ghana and social forestry schemes in Indonesia. The geographical spread of projects includes Africa, South America and Southeast Asia.

Successful applicants are from universities of Sheffield and Oxford as well as Reading. A total of £10,000 has been awarded with individual awards of up to £2000 to allow students to carry out approximately eight weeks of research, as an integral part of their masters degree.

TAAF also provides two other types of awards: A longer international study award for UK based young members who are wanting to get a foot on the international development career ladder. In addition, a conference travel award open to young members based in developing countries. https://taa-international.org/taaf/

TAAF is very grateful to the generosity of donors, both individuals and small organisations who make these awards possible.
