TAAI LONDON CURRY CLUB TALK – Developing-country livestock producers as the rich world turns away from meat . RESCHEDULED January 17th 2023

It is increasingly accepted by scientists, and increasingly taken up by campaigners, that a radical reduction in meat consumption, at least by people in wealthy countries, is a key part of action against climate change. This raises unavoidable questions for hundreds of millions of smallholders, pastoralists and landless livestock-keepers; people largely characterised by poverty and vulnerability, and for those who wish to support them. The talk will explore some of the questions around supporting livestock-keepers, particularly in Africa, in this new climate.

Professor Morton presented the Ralph Melville Memorial lecture at Portcullis House in the Houses of Parliament in June 2022. This presentation is especially tailored and re-focused for the LSE London Curry Club.
