TAAI London Curry Club Lunchtime Lecture: Using GIS tools to benefit smallholder farmers
We are delighted to announce a new venue for our Curry Club Talks.
THE CINNAMON BAZAAR, just off Strand north side and close to Charing Cross rail station, will be hosting our popular lecture series.
The talk will be given by TAA member Alison Hall and Tim Buckley, Chief Operating Officer of the UK company Alcis, which provides geospatial services for projects targeted at vulnerable communities.
It follows on from the previous Curry Club talk by Sami Khan of BII on how geographic information systems (GIS) and new sensors can help smallholder farmers in developing countries. Alison and Tim will provide examples of these technologies in current use ranging from small-scale projects like Alison’s “Seeds for Development” charity in village communities in northern Uganda, to Alcis larger-scale programmes with governments and development agencies.
